Harlem Renaissance was a time period where the Black community expressed themselves with literature, music, and arts. It began right after World War I ended. Which lead to the Great Migration, where thousands of African American from the rural South relocated to the urban North. Free black men and women were looking for new ways to find themselves and express their culture. Which lead to one of the major theme of black identity to occur through out this time period. This is why literature, music, and art was very popular form for people to express themselves and figure out who they were.For example Langston Hughes was a famous poet that came out of the Harlem Renaissance,along with many other poets. Also, Billie Holiday ,was one of many musicians who came out the Harlem Renaissance.
